Oh, My Achin’ Head…

There is some serious weirdness going on lately.  I don’t like it.  It’s creepy.

Our so-called “national broadcaster,” The Ministry of What You Should Think (aka the ceeb) has long been known as one of the great money pits of the Canadian taxpayer.  It has also been consistently hostile to anything and everything that bears even the slightest resemblance to a conservative — big or small “c” — thought.

The ceeb long ago stopped being the “voice of the Canadian people.”  If memory serves me correctly (and this was quite some time ago, remember), it was sometime around about the early 70s when the CBC stopped reporting on what Canadians were thinking and started telling Canadians what to think.  The federal Tories have, during their time in both opposition and minority government, frequently criticized this blatant waste and bias.  Rightly so, too.

So just why the hell are the Conservatives being so damn nice to it all of a sudden??  I think I might have an idea.  That the ceeb was is the Liberal party’s propaganda arm has been one of the worst kept secrets in the country for years now.  Are the Tories, now that they’re swinging the big stick of majority government, looking to put it to the same purpose?  It’s the only explanation I can think of for some of what’s been going on lately. Seriously, Folks…

HUH???… I know that I’ve never had a very high opinion of the MSM, and I’ve never pretended to, but at precisely what point in this particular election campaign did they fall down the rabbit hole completely?

PMSH has been doing his best to keep all the hullabaloo confined to the issues (which is like herding cats at the best of times) this time around, but what are we getting from the MSM?

Utter asshattery and a surprisingly good impression of Harald the Missionary from Erik the Viking.

The big thing on Canadians’ minds these days is the economy — as in “it’s the economy, stupid” — but Alex Marland is hung up on “Why Stephen kisses Laureen.”  No, goddammit, I am NOT making that up!  Why does the PM kiss his wife????? [answer at the bottom of this post, if you really, really need it]

Hey, Alex, lemme ask you something… Have you ever kissed a girl? Maybe if you had, you wouldn’t need to ask such dumbass questions. (more…)

TOTALLY Didn’t See This One Coming

A Ray Of Hope

Wish the hell I had more time to go into greater depth about this but, to make a long story short, it looks like the Ultimate White Elephantâ„¢ is finally going to get taken out behind the barn and mercifully (for the rest of us, at least) shot dead.

God knows it’s about time we saw something like this. Maybe now they can start to get the hell off the backs of harmless gun owners (yeah, you read that right: harmless) and start going after some real scumbags for a change (via Gun Owners Resource).

Saskatchewan M.P. Garry Breitkreuz has introduced a Private Members’ Bill to scrap the decade-old Canadian long-gun registry (see link below to Bill C-301).

The long-gun registry was originally budgeted to cost Canadians $2 million, but the price tag spiraled out of control to an estimated $2 billion a decade later. Breitkreuz says it’s time to pull the plug on this useless money pit, because the registry has not saved one single life since it was introduced.

“The registry is a political pacifier created to give the impression that Canada would be safer for it,” explains Breitkreuz. “Nothing could be further from the truth. I believe Canadians would rather see their tax dollars keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and gangs, instead of trying to control law-abiding citizens.”

Dumb? ORLY?

There’s been a lot of blabbing back and forth in the MSM (and in the blogosphere, too) about what a dumbass, stupid, politically suicidal track HMPM Harper has been taking in the whole Coup d’Twits ’08â„¢ affair. Even longtime, hardcore Harper faithful were weeping, wailing and gnashing their teeth over what a blunder it was and how it was going to come back and bite the whole C/conservative movement where the sun don’t shine.

Personally, I didn’t agree; I was of the mind that the PM had gone for the jugular and should just keep on going.

Well, as it turns out, Steve didn’t do things the way I would have liked, but the end result is hardly the doom and gloom we were hearing in the blogs — and are still hearing in the MSM.  Come to think of it, things are actually looking a little on the rosy side.  Go figure:

OTTAWA – Almost three-quarters of Canadians say they are “truly scared” for the future of the country and a solid majority say they would prefer another election to having the minority Conservative government replaced by a coalition led by Stephane Dion, a new Ipsos-Reid poll says.

The poll also indicates Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservatives would romp to a majority victory with a record 46 per cent public support if an election were held today.

[…]

The poll indicates the prospect of the Dion-led coalition has prompted Canadians to rethink the value of an election so soon after the Oct. 14 poll. Fifty-six per cent said they would rather go to the polls than be governed by the coalition.

Funny as hell, how some things work out sometimes, eh?  But that’s not the only bad news for Celine Stephane.  Nosiree.  The rats are already hopping off the boat and the Lieberal cutlery is out and getting sharpened up for his hide again…

Within an hour of Prime Minister Stephen Harper winning a two-month reprieve, some Grit MPs were pulling back from the idea of trying to replace the Tory regime with a Liberal-NDP coalition propped up by the Bloc Quebecois.

Toronto MP Jim Karygiannis says the coalition idea is finished and is calling on Stephane Dion to resign the Liberal leadership sooner rather than later.

Gee whiz, who’d have seen that coming?
