Not all psychopaths are created through abuse or lack of proper guiding. Some are created due to physical malformations of the brain. There have been studies that show that the parts of the brain that are responsible for the ‘conscience’ (judgement of right or wrong), emotions, or impulse repression are suppressed or non-functional. Essentially, very rarely, people are born without the capacity to form morals. They cannot understand or reproduce moral behavior.

Here’s the thing though: they can learn to approximate moral behavior if it achieves their ends. The entire time I’ve been reading the article and the posts here, I’ve had one thought: this girl didn’t show remorse, may not have ever felt remorse, but once she realizes it will allow her to be released from custody, she can pretend to feel remorse. Essentially, she can learn the ‘right answers’ that her doctors and psychiatrists are looking for without ever actually developing any morality. And here’s the kicker: if she’s intelligent enough to do it well, her doctors will never know the difference.

She’s obviously already developed the ability to manipulate people, and considering the type of boyfriend she picked, she’s probably decent at picking victims that are susceptible to her too. I shudder to think of the havoc she might cause when she’s released, especially if she’s smart enough to stick to blackmail and other manipulations that won’t be detected as easily. As impractical as it may be, I’m one of the people who wishes she could be incarcerated her entire life.
