And just what the heck is hippocrisy, you ask? Why, it’s hypocrisy the size of a hippopotamus, of course. 😛 And it can be damned amusing stuff.

Things like this remind me of Abe Lincoln. What the hell does Lincoln have to do with anything in present-day Canada? That’s easy: Lincoln once quipped that “Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.” I feel the same way about censorship; nothing improves my mood like seeing some totalitarian little bastard getting some of his own medicine rammed down his throat. A good example of this is one dorkette by the name of Gilary Massa. You can get a look at her here, on an episode of TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin titled “Today’s Young Muslim Woman.”

What caught my attention (tip o’ the chapeau to Damian for this one) wasn’t her being a Muslim woman, however. To be honest, the first few times I read about her, the way the articles were worded, I thought she was a dude. No, what got my attention was the say she found her own guns pointed at her. Let’s start with the way that York U has stifled the debate on abortion by violating the rights of the pro-life side by banning all their groups:

Gilary Massa, vice-president external of the York Federation of Students, said student clubs will be free to discuss abortion in student space, as long as they do it “within a pro-choice realm,” and that all clubs will be investigated to ensure compliance.

“You have to recognize that a woman has a choice over her own body,” Ms. Massa said. “We think that these pro-life, these anti-choice groups, they’re sexist in nature … The way that they speak about women who decide to have abortions is demoralizing. They call them murderers, all of them do … Is this an issue of free speech? No, this is an issue of women’s rights.“

Hmm… A hijab-wearing Muslim woman who argues in favour of abortion. Didn’t see that one coming. 😯 A hijab-wearing Muslim woman who believes that the coercive power of the system should be used to shut up people she disagrees with? That’s a lot easier to picture.

Like Damian said; the minute somebody says “it’s not about free speech,” you can bet your ass it’s about free speech. And li’l Gilary obviously doesn’t like the idea of people being able to voice their opinions. Unless, of course, they happen to be her opinions; in which case, she becomes a free-speecher in one hell of a hurry!

Earlier this year, the McMaster University administration banned “anti-Zionist” organizations from using the term “Israeli Apartheid” in posters and banners on the campus. They gave their reasons, some I agree with and some I don’t. Do some digging and see for yourself.

But guess what? Massa got her bhurka all in a knot at the thought of being given a taste of her own medicine:

“We think what has happened at McMaster is an attack on freedom of speech and the right for students to be able to organize,” […] “We find it appalling that a university administration would strip students away of those fundamental rights without any consultation whatsoever. We think it sets a very scary precedent that other universities might follow.” […] “People should be allowed to have different opinions and try to convince each other and have a dialogue in a respectful manner. As student union representatives, we think that creating a safe space on campus means allowing people to use their freedom of speech, of course without being hateful or discriminatory. But they should also be able to use these words without fear of being clamped down on.”

Yeah, right. Hypocritical bitch.

Whenever I hear anyone arguing for censorship, I feel a strong impulse to see her gagged with her own hijab.

Layton has one.

No, really, I’m being serious here. For once (just this once), I’m saying something nice about Jack Layton and I’m not being a smartass: the man does, in fact, have a brain.

Granted, he doesn’t use it all that often, but he dusted it off and trotted it out the other day.

By now, just about everybody and their duck knows about Dion’s little Carbon Tax Excellent Adventure©. Most of us were likely thinking (like I was) that Jumpin’ Jack!â„¢ would hop on that brain-dead bandwagon like a viagra addict on a $2 hooker, but he didn’t.  Nope, not this time. Ol’ Jack actually came out with something eerily resembling common sense:

Ottawa–A carbon tax would place an unfair burden on low-income Canadians, Jack Layton said yesterday.

“Those advocating a carbon tax suggest that by making the costs for certain things more expensive, people will make different choices,” Layton said.

“But Canada is a cold place and heating your home really isn’t a choice.”

How the hell did that happen??? Granted, he did get right back to the stoopid right quick (putting the screws to industry, blah blah blah; read the article), but he still had himself a good brain moment for a few seconds there.

Congrats, Jack. Go buy yourself a beer.

Something’s got me wondering. Big time.

As most of you likely know by now, Ezra Levant spilled the beans earlier today about the fact the it looks like the RCMP has begun a criminal investigation into the ongoing skulduggery being perpetrated by Canada’s so-called “Human Rights Commission” (a mind-numbingly hypocritical title if ever there was one).

Something like this is news. Big news. Big, big, big. Here’s a little tidbit for you:

Just how bad does it have to get before the government stops saying that the CHRC follows “procedures specified by the law”? We’ve got the Privacy Commissioner and the RCMP investigating now. What does it take to get the government’s attention — a NATO airstrike?

And how about the claim that the government is “monitoring” the CHRC to ensure that it “remains effective”. Effective at what? Hacking Internet accounts? Shredding their records and deleting their hard drives? Staying out of jail? What exactly about the CHRC’s conduct could be called “effective”?

Question: when the RCMP investigates CHRC staff, will the CHRC pay for their criminal lawyers? If so, is that an indication that those CHRC staff hacked the website in the course of their duties?

Like I said, Big News. Big, biggitty, big-big-big. So… why is it, then, that CBC the Ministry Of What You Should Think has diddly, CTV has squat, and when I type in “CHRC RCMP” into a Google news search, all I get is…

I absolutely knew that I God damned well smelled a rat in all this mess. And now, the stink is getting worse than a dead skunk under the back porch.

It’s not enough that EC picks and chooses who they chase after.

It’s not enough that EC uses a warrant to get their hands on documents that were due to be used against them in a court case.

It’s not enough that the media were tipped off to make sure they Tories got as much bad press as possible.

Hell, it’s not even enough that somebody made sure the Goddamn Grits were there with a handydandy film crew to get some propaganda footage.

Hell, no, not NEARLY enough! Now we find out (thanks to some good sleuthing by Liz Thompson) that the Judge that signed the warrant, Justice Ian V.B Nordheimer, wasn’t just a Liberal appointee — which really isn’t much of a stretch, when you consider how many years the Librano$ had to stack the courts with their fellow travelers — but he was also a financial contributor to the LPOC, including ponying up to help get Allan Rock re-elected in ’97, just two years before being named to the bench by Rock’s successor Anne “gotcher guns” McLellan! I sounded off briefly yesterday about the so-called “in-and-out scandal” (sounds like the plot for some corny ’70s porno flick, doesn’t it?) that has the HypoGrits and their MSM lapdogs in such a lather lately. Now, I know that I don’t often go off about the same topic several times in a row very often — my ex has often accused me of having the attention span of a hand grenade 🙄 — but the sheer depth and breadth of the anti-Conservative spin that’s flying about in this particular turd typhoon makes me feel like more needs to be said on this.

Just try finding something in the MSM on this that doesn’t have a strong stink of judging the Tories as guilty-until-proven-innocent. Trust me on this one, you’ll have to do a hell of a lot of sifting.

The hat’s off once again to Edmonton’s favourite Elmer Fuddette, Hunter, for posting this ahead of me (along with a knowing wink to frmgrl, one of her regular commentators who clued her in to it in the first place).

Some folks have been asking why I haven’t sounded off about the Great Raid That Wasn’tâ„¢, which was supposedly carried out by the RCMP on the Conservative Party of Canada. The simple answer is, that I haven’t had the time lately.

But I’ve got a few minutes now, and here’s what I think. The most important thing that was removed by Elections Canada from the CPC offices (and yes, it was Elections Canada doing the searching and not the RCMP) was something that had nothing whatsoever to do with Tory financing practices, but was also one thing that they could never have gotten their hands on otherwise.
