Day 13

Here I am, back again after a day of election-free behaviour.

For those of you wondering: it wasn’t entirely my idea. Some folks (you know who you are) were going so nuts will all my election obsessing that they were starting to seriously think about hog-tying me in a cave someplace and gagging me with a field mouse if I didn’t lay off for a day.

So I did.

But it’s back to the partisan grind today, so here goes…

12:22 – Abandon ship!

Over at AITGWN, Steve Janke has an interesting post about the possibility of Garth Vader deciding to concede the election to the Tories, throw Steffy under the bus and save his own political skin:

Liberal MP Garth Turner has always been a Stephane Dion loyalist.

Well, he has been for as long as the Liberals were useful to him. Now that Stephane Dion runs the risk of leading the Liberals to an election loss (no certain thing, in my mind, by the way), Garth Turner’s confidence seems to be crumbling:

Well now, that sure makes for some interesting reading…

13:08 – About that brand…

Jeffrey Simpson, over at the Mop & Pail, of all places, has some rather interesting observations about that “Liberal Brand®” that we all keep hearing about ad nauseum. Seems this little juggernaut isn’t quite what we’ve been getting told that it was. Seems it’s becoming something of an urban Ontario / Atlantic rump, or something:

In the last election, the Liberals hung on to 13 Quebec seats, mostly in and around Montreal. The majority of the seats had large concentrations of non-francophones. If an election were held tomorrow, half of the party’s 13 seats would be in jeopardy.

[…]

West of Ontario, the Liberal brand has been a tarnished one for decades. The Liberals haven’t captured the largest number of seats in Manitoba since 1953, in Saskatchewan since 1949. In 20 elections since 1945, the party has won just 29 seats in Alberta. The Liberals have taken the largest number of seats in British Columbia twice since the Second World War, in 1953 and 1968.

So, politically speaking, the Liberal brand west of Ontario has been lousy for decades. It’s no better now. Yes, there have been urban pockets of Liberal support in the four western provinces, but that’s been it.

Viewed from Greater Toronto, the Liberal brand remains infused with a proud history, values and people. But even in some other places in Ontario where the party used to be strong, the brand has faded.

Dang. Getting elected is easy when your opponents are split — as in PC/Reform, etc — but when there’s a single alternative, things can be a real bitch, eh? Read the whole thing, it’s good.

13:25 – It’s the dawn of a new (Rae) day

Those of us from Ontario remember quite well the buggering that our economy suffered at the hands of NDP-Premier-turned-UberGrit-wannabe Bob Rae (AKA Highway RobRae). If this clown is who Steffy Dion is trotting out as his economic shirpa, they’re even more desperate than I would have thought they were. For those of you who might need your memories jogged, here’s a little something (thanks to Red Tory, of all people; go figure):

18:45 – Update: Sandy over at COTM has a few things to say too, about the Grits’ little Rae of sunshine (I like that lady):

But, for those who are gullible, let me tell you about the Bob Rae government, the social chaos, the Social Contract and the infamous Rae Days that left children and the elderly without supervision.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WOMAN? [UPDATED]

Screw the election, some things are more important.

Erica Caines

Desperate hunt for mom, baby

Somewhere in Totonto a nine-month-old baby is dying.

Toronto Police are desperately searching for baby Heru Sut Tekh El and his 22-year-old mother. Erica Caines took her baby from the Hospital for Sick Children Wednesday after doctors admitted the severely malnourished tot. Mother and child haven’t been seen since.

“The baby requires urgent medical care, so we’re obviously worried,” said Toronto Police Const. Helen Dixon, of 52 Division’s family services unit. “Get your baby back to the hospital immediately.”

Caines had brought the baby to the Sick Kids’ emergency room around 2 p.m., police said. Once inside, hospital staff determined the little boy — who only weighs an alarming 11 pounds — was suffering from “severe malnutrition” and in need of immediate medical attention. But soon after the child was admitted, his mother took him and fled.

PUBLIC APPEAL

More than 24 hours later, police made the public appeal for the mother and her child, but still can’t find them.

Const. Tony Vella said officers believe the child’s safety is at risk without immediate medical attention and that the mother could be anywhere within the GTA. The mother has had no previous contact with police.

Caines is described as black, 5-foot-6, 99 pounds, with curly dark brown hair. The boy is about half the weight of a typical nine-month-old baby and only a few pounds heavier than an average newborn. The two may be travelling in a late 90s model, red, two-door, Acura, police said.

Dixon said officers have been checking a number of addresses on an “ongoing basis,” but the woman has not been located. Police said they had been in contact with the mother’s next-of-kin.

Catherine Snoddon, of the Toronto Children’s Aid Society, said they had no involvement with the mother before this incident.

“Professionals and the public will call us if they are concerned about the safety of the child and in this situation, certainly Sick Kids was,” Snoddon said. “Unfortunately, since then no one’s been able to see mom … hopefully someone will come forward.”

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Caines or her son is asked to contact 52 Division at 416-808-5200, the Toronto Children’s Aid Society at 416 924-4646 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

The abduction is the third very public tragedy involving a child to rock the city this year.

In January, baby Angelica-Leslie was abandoned in a frigid North York mall stairwell. Last August, Katelynn Sampson was killed in a Parkdale apartment. The child’s legal guardian and that woman’s common-law husband were charged with murder.

[UPDATE]

The Toronto Sun has more info (what the hell is going on here??):

A young woman who fled a Toronto hospital with her severely malnourished baby has another young child police are worried about.

Investigators have been looking for Erica Caines, 22, and her 9-month-old son Heru Sut Tekh El since Caines left the Hospital for Sick Children against the wishes of medical staff Wednesday.

Aside from the sick tot, who weighed only 11 pounds. when admitted to hospital, Caines has another son who is about 2 or 3 years old and also unaccounted for, Toronto Police Det. Mike Leone said yesterday.

“The younger child is sort of the focus of the incident, but we’re obviously concerned about both kids,” Leone said.

ARGUED WITH STAFF

Caines admitted her son to Sick Kids’ around 2 p.m., but left with the child after a confrontation with staff.

“Medical staff basically tried to convince her that the baby should not leave and should remain in the hospital and receive treatment,” Leone said. “She obviously didn’t agree with them.”

Caines was with a friend, who hasn’t provided police with a lot of information, Leone said. It’s unknown if her other son was with them at the time.

Investigators have since received some help from Caines’ family, but continued to plead for Caines to come forward.

It’s unknown where she resides, as she only lives with her family “at times,” and it appears her and the father of her children aren’t together, Leone said.

FAMILY DIDN’T KNOW

Her family was apparently unaware of the baby’s ill health, as Caines “has not been on the greatest relations” with family members, so they haven’t spent much time with the baby, Leone said.

“The family is very concerned,” he said. “I can’t understand why she wouldn’t come in or take the baby back to the hospital. She’s got to come forward. If she doesn’t want to talk to police, she can call Toronto (Children’s Aid Society) or more importantly, just go to a hospital with the baby,” Leone said.

“Our main focus is just the well-being of this kid. Beyond that, obviously we’re going to find out to what extent this neglect went to and if there’s any criminal side to it, we’ll certainly investigate that.”

Tipsters should contact police at 416-808-5200, CAS at 416-924-4646 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477, 222tips.com or by texting TOR to 274637.

As If We Needed It

Stupid Judge TricksAs if we somehow needed more proof (no, we don’t) that our laughably so-called “justice system” in this country has gone completely and utterly off the rails, a woman in Guelph, Ontario has gotten of light, thanks to Justice Cas Herold, with the cold-blooded murder of not one, but two children.  Not just kids, but babies!  Both of them were under three months old! It’s days like this that I sometimes question my opposition to capital punishment.

Both of the victims were her own children.

Some of you without strong stomachs of anger management issues might not want to read much further, just so you know.  Pieces of walking garbage like this so-called woman could gag a maggot:

GUELPH–A Guelph woman who admitted killing her two sons was acquitted of two counts of murder yesterday, prompting an angry outburst from one victim’s father and tears of relief from the other.

“You’re a f—ing murderer,” the woman’s former partner yelled at her before storming from the courtroom at Guelph’s Superior Court. “No matter what, you’re a f—ing murderer.”

The man, followed from the courtroom by his mother and grandmother, could then be heard screaming and banging in the corridor.

Yeah, he’s pissed, and who the hell can blame him?  The bitch murdered his son!

Let’s take a look at the facts of this case, shall we?  For once, they really are quite simple and straightforward…

  1. In Kitchener in 1998, she smothered her 7-week old son.
  2. Just 4 years later, in 2002, she killed her 9-week-old son in Guelph.
  3. She admitted to killing her children.
  4. She also admitted to thinking about killing her other two surviving kids. 😯

There you have it.  She’s 27 years old, has murdered exactly half of all the children she’s ever given birth to, and is thinking about finishing the job on the others (a boy and a girl).

Maximum sentence: seven years.  Toss in statutory release and the lovely 2-for-1 pizza justice that scumbags get for pre-trial custody, and she’ll likely be out by next summer.  Oh, did I mention the best part?  You aren’t allowed to know who she is.

That’s because, while she was 21 when she killed her second victim, she was only 17 the first time she killed a baby (and got caught), so she gets to hide behind the anonymity that the lovely little YCJA provides for all murdering little bitches/bastards under the age of 18.  Nice friggin’ job, Chretien & Co., the gift that just keeps on giving.

And you can’t return the God damned thing…

FINALLY!

It’s about God damned time!

Yes, it is. At long last, Steven Truscott — possibly the most well-known wrongly convicted person in Canadian history — is finally getting his due for what he went through. I’m not normally big on this kind of thing but, maybe because I grew up in Clinton, I’ve known about the Truscott case for most of my life, and I’ve always known that he was railroaded.

Nothing that was announced today is going to make up for the time he had taken away, or for his being sentenced to hang by the neck until he were dead at the age of only 14, but it’s better than nothing

Steven Truscott, c. 195-?TORONTO — Steven Truscott, the youngest person in Canada to face the hangman’s noose is being compensated $6.5 million for his “miscarriage of justice.”

Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley made the announcement this morning at Queens Park.

Truscott’s wife, Marlene, is also being compensated $100,000.

Truscott was only 14 when he was convicted in 1959 of murdering his 12-year-old classmate, Lynne Harper.

Both of them lived with their families at the Clinton airforce base, now known as Vanastra, in Huron County.

Truscott was sentenced to hang in Goderich in September, 1959. His case became a lightning rod in capital punishment debates that would follow.

There’s more:

Steven Truscott, 2007Statement from Steven and Marlene Truscott: “This is a bittersweet moment for us. When we began this journey more than a decade ago, we thought only of exonerating Steven – the possibility of compensation never entered our minds. Although we are grateful for the freedom and stability this award will provide, we are also painfully aware that no amount of money could ever truly compensate Steven for the terror of being sentenced to hang at the age of 14, the loss of his youth, or the stigma of living for almost 50 years as a convicted murderer.

“We have had an opportunity to read Justice Robins’ report, and are very pleased with his findings and their acceptance by the government. This is the final and long-awaited step in recognizing Steve’s innocence. We are especially appreciative of Justice Robins’ finding that: It was the state, through the operation of the criminal justice system, that inflicted the harm on Mr. Truscott. We are all dependent upon the proper functioning of the criminal justice system and we must all share the burden of its errors. Through no fault of his own, Mr. Truscott suffered as a result of one of those errors. His loss should be borne by the community as a whole, and not by Mr. Truscott alone. The state has a moral obligation – an obligation that springs from a sense of justice and equity – to provide some redress to Mr. Truscott. The public’s interest in the proper administration of justice – and, indeed, the public’s conscience – demand that a payment be made.

“We wish to thank Justice Robins for his recommendations, Attorney General Chris Bentley for accepting and acting on them so promptly, and Guelph MPP Liz Sandals for her support both within and outside the legislature. We are grateful to the lawyers who represented us in this final phase and made submissions on our behalf to Justice Robins: Hersh Wolch, Marlys Edwardh, Adriel Weaver, and Jenny Friedland. We also thank the AIDWYC lawyers who represented Steven on the application to the Minister of Justice and the reference to the Court of Appeal: James Lockyer, Philip Campbell, Marlys Edwardh, Hersh Wolch, and Jenny Friedland. All of our lawyers brought great commitment and creativity to a series of very difficult tasks, and we know we would not be here today without each of their efforts. The staff at AIDWYC, especially Win Wahrer, were always present behind the scenes, and while their work was perhaps less visible, it was no less important. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank former Justice Minister Irwin Cotler for his decision to refer the case to the Court of Appeal, without which none of this would be possible.

“On a more personal note, we wish to thank our children, Lesley, Ryan and Devon, for their unwavering support. They stood by us when we made the difficult decision to re-open the case, and have continued to do so despite the stress and loss of privacy that have resulted. We also wish to thank the thousands of Canadians – and individuals around the world – who have expressed their support over the years. Your care and kindness have sustained us through some very difficult times, and we are thrilled to be sharing this good news with you today.

“We know that many of you will be eager to convey your congratulations, but right now we need some quiet time to absorb this news and to reflect with our friends and family on everything we’ve been through. We will not be giving any interviews or further statements to the media at this time. We have always appreciated your respect for our privacy, and trust it will continue. We would ask that any further inquiries be directed to our lawyers…

Let’s Ban Socialists

Here we go again.

In the frantic scramble to prove once again that socialists just won’t quit until they’re at the top of some heap or other — even if the heap in question is just being plain old bag-of-hammers stoopid — Arsehole Of The Universe Ubersocialist David Miller is still hopping on the Banned Wagon and is now screeching for a ban on handguns and all shooting ranges in TO. 🙄

Yup, that’s right; ol’ Davey never gets tired of scraping the bottom of the barrel of failed ideas. Look for him to ban farting in elevators next. Here’s a few tidbits, with arrangement and commentary by yours truly, of course:

Mayor David Miller announced a plan today that would make all handguns illegal in Toronto, a series of measures that will effectively shut down gun ranges and make it all but impossible to manufacture, assemble or store firearms within city limits.

“I want a safe city,” the mayor told reporters. “The truth is, guns are too easily available and if you talk to some kids in some neighbourhoods they tell you they want a gun to protect themselves.’’ [Well, Dave, maybe if the scumbags that they want protection from were locked up, the idea of carrying a gun might never occur to these kids. Ever think of that??]

Among the recommendations is one calling on council to pass a zoning bylaw to restrict the use of firearms anywhere in the city, including firing ranges and gun clubs.

The report also calls for an end to all recreational shooting on city property, “specifically, shooting ranges at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre (former Mid-Scarborough Community Centre) and Union Station.” [Because everyone knows that shooting ranges are where all the gangbangers hang out.]

“After John O’Keefe’s tragic killing I don’t think there’s any defence for sport shooters any more,” he said. “It’s a hobby that creates danger to others … Guns are stolen routinely from so-called legal owners.” [One legally owned handgun. So, naturally, we’ll blame the other 999,999 legally owned handguns that weren’t used in any crimes. Makes perfect sense, if you’re a socialist.]

“Do we as a society value safety or do we value a hobby that creates danger? And nobody can deny that that hobby directly results in people being shot to death on the streets of Toronto.” [Way to go with the “now that you’ve stopped beating your wife” question, Dave.]

Mr. Whitmore said the mayor is posturing to look as though he is addressing gun violence, but is doing nothing to stop the real source of illegal guns in Toronto.

“This is about the mayor’s need to be seen doing something about gun violence,” he said. “But he’s off on a complete tangent … the vast majority of guns being used by criminals in this city are coming from the United States. They certainly aren’t coming from legitimate, law-abiding gun owners.”

But in the meantime, Mr. Miller said the city must act. “If we want a truly gun-free city we can’t just ask the federal government to ban the ownership of hand guns … We have to do what’s in our power.”

Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong, Don Valley East, scoffed at the mayor’s handgun plan. “Big deal,” he said. “The people that are using the guns are not going into stores and purchasing them. It helps marginally but in terms of reducing handguns I’m not sure it will do very much.” [That’s because it won’t do anything.]

In one six-week period in the summer of 2005, burglars reportedly made off with 84 firearms from Toronto area homes, according to a Toronto police survey. It includes 42 pistols stolen from the Coburg area. In October, 2005, a cache of 17 handguns was stolen from a Toronto lawyer’s office. [Is anybody else wondering just how thieves knew where to find those nice, big collections? Did they maybe check one of those ammo sales records that Bob Rae thought were such a great idea?]

Global News also reported that Chris Bentley will suggest all imported guns be marked with the date they arrived in Canada, the name of the person or company who imported them and the place they were made. [Of course, more registry shit. That’s JUST what we need.]

Not everybody’s drinking the Koolaid. But is that really a surprise? I mean, come on, now. Even in a place like Toronto, it’s hard to get everybody to be as stupid as Miller…

Inspector Tony Cooper, of the Ontario Provincial Police, said there has only been one instance of a member of an Ontario shooting club using his handgun in a homicide.

“I hear about a lot of shootings in Toronto, but I haven’t heard of any using target pistols,” said Insp. Cooper, the deputy chief firearms officer with the provincial weapons enforcement centre. “And only one by a member of a shooting club.”

You can bet your ass that I’m not near done with this one. More when I have more time to work with (I’m off to buy some ammo)…

Saw This Coming From Miles Away

Filed under: BS,Cluebat,Multicultism,Ontario,Politicorrect,Rants,Society/Culture — Dennis @ 2:19 pm

Of course, I did. And so did every other mean, nasty, homophobic, anti-multicultural, knuckle-dragging, islamophobic, intolerant, Christian, gun-totin’, pickup-drivin’, nascar-watchin’, intolerant, scaryscaryscary, rightwingrightwingrightwing, redneck neanderthal in the country.

We said that this would happen and all the “progressives” did was fling the ad hominem like a bunch of cranky caged apes with too much poop within reach. They called us every dirty name in the book and howled to the skies that “gay marriage” was not the thin edge of the wedge; it was about rights, nothing more. Well, as usual, the Fearmongering Of The Right Wing Nutjobs® has come to pass

“Polygamy is happening in Toronto; it’s not common, but it’s happening,” said Hindy, imam at Salahuddin Islamic Centre.

Hindy, hardly a stranger to controversy, is well known for his friendship with the family of Omar Khadr, the young Canadian detainee at Guantanamo Bay, and his outspoken views on the implementation of Islamic law. In the past five years, Hindy said he has officiated or “blessed” more than 30 polygamous marriages; the most recent was two months ago. Even some imams in the GTA have second wives, he added.

“This is in our religion and nobody can force us to do anything against our religion,” he said. “If the laws of the country conflict with Islamic law, if one goes against the other, then I am going to follow Islamic law, simple as that.”

There you have it. Polygamy and another step towards the dhimmitude of Canada, all in one handy package. A two-fer. Nice, eh?

We said that this would happen. But still, the “progressives” who got us into this mess are playing dumb, pretending that they have no idea how such a thing could happen.  I mean, how could we possibly have polygamy in Canada?? Wake up, shitheads; this isn’t happening because you let it happen, it’s happening because you made it happen!

Aw, now I’m probably gonna get called an islamophobe. Hey, it’s just their culture, it’s not hurting or screwing over anybody, right? Bullshit:

…Hindy advises men to keep the second marriage a secret as long as they can, even from the first wife. There have been instances where he has gone with the men to their homes to share the news with the first wives, in an attempt to help lessen the blow.

Hindy had advised Rigby’s husband to stay quiet. When Rigby emailed Hindy, soon after discovering he had conducted the marriage, he offered little support.

“You have to stand beside him in these difficult times. You should stop causing problems to him. You will not get anything by divorce except destroying your life,” she said he told her.

Well, at least they’re not trying to ram their ideals down anybody else’s throats, right? Wrong, again (by years, this time):

A controversial Toronto imam warned Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan at a closed-door meeting to stop “terrorizing” Canadian Muslims.”If you try to cross the line I can’t guarantee what is going to happen. Our young people, we can’t control,” Aly Hindy, the head of Scarborough’s Salaheddin Islamic Centre, recalls telling the minister at the May meeting she held in Toronto with dozens of Muslim leaders.

Translation: “We’re gonna do whatever the hell we want, and if you try to get in the way, we’re gonna run amok on your asses.”

Hey, “progressives,” I got a little message for ya. You might be thinking to yourselves, in the backs of your little pea brains, “when they come for me, who will be left to speak up?“  And you know damned well that they will come for you.

The answer is that WE will be left. Mean, evil, gun-totin’ intolerant rednecks. We’ll be left because we don’t allow ourselves to be screwed with. When totalitarian assholes push us, we push back, and we aren’t afraid of escalation; we give as good as we get — usually better. And it’s not just because we have guns and know how to use them (although that’s always nice); it’s just who we are. We love our freedom, we understand that it isn’t free, and we’re willing to pay for it. No matter the price. So we’ll be the ones that are left to speak up.

Here’s the problem for you, though:

I can’t speak for everyone, so I’ll just speak for me. While I’ll be around to speak up, I won’t. Not for you. After all the damage you’ve done, I’ll be more than happy to leave you to the God damned wolves.

My kin, on the other hand, are safe. And they’re staying that way.
